Tom Kerridge is up there with the best of the best, he is one of my favourite chefs. He produces quite possibly the best hearty British food in the country; so when I heard he was doing a one week pop up in London at Harrods I was straight on the phone to get tickets for me and my brother.
Needless to say it didn’t disappoint, I started with the best duck liver parfait I have ever eaten- so smooth and creamy but also so light and aerated. This was served with a delicious onion marmalade and warm buttery toasted brioche- the stuff of dreams!
For the main course I had beer brined chicken supreme which was unbelievably tender and the meat subtly perfumed with beer. Garnished with pistachios, black truffle and a cabbage chou farci- so traditional and yet brought so startlingly up to date. The dish had so much flavour, it was just exceptional; I have never had chicken breast that was so tender and melt in the mouth.
Lastly was dessert, a creamy tonka bean pannacotta with sweet and crispy honeycomb and jewel like plums. The perfect end to a wonderful meal, Tom Kerridge please open up a London restaurant- I will be the first in line!
